Five days on foot in Swedish Lapland under the midnight sun, carrying everything and camping by mountain lakes.

  • The northern stretch of the Kungsleden, the King's Trail
  • Twenty-four hours of daylight in late June
  • Reindeer grazing around camp
  • Sweden's highest mountain, Kebnekaise, on the skyline

About the trip

The Kungsleden runs for 440 kilometres through Swedish Lapland, and its northern section from Abisko is the most beautiful: birch forest, rushing rivers and wide valleys ringed by snowy peaks.

We walk five to six hours a day with full packs, camping by lakes and rivers. The path is good, with boardwalks over the wettest ground, and there are mountain huts along the way where you can buy chocolate and fresh bread.
