Lead guide, Swedish archipelago and lakes

Jonas Lindqvist

“Thirty thousand islands, and I still find a new favourite every summer.”

Jonas has paddled the Stockholm archipelago since he could hold a paddle. He leads our Swedish paddling and family trips, and his campfire cinnamon buns are the reason many guests come back.

Why I guide

My family has a red cottage on an island in the outer archipelago, and I spent every summer of my childhood in a kayak. When friends visited from the city, I took them paddling, and they always asked to come back.

I trained as a kayak instructor and wilderness guide, and now I take families and first-time paddlers out to camp on rocky islands where the only sound is the sea. Seeing children light their first campfire never gets old.

How I guide

Relaxed and practical. I teach the basics on the first morning, and after that we paddle at the pace of the slowest boat. Families are always welcome, and I plan days with swimming, games and plenty of snacks.

What I love out there

  • Swimming from warm granite rocks at sunset
  • Cinnamon buns baked on the campfire
  • Spotting seals on the outer skerries
  • The Swedish right to roam, which lets us camp almost anywhere

Favourite places

  • Utö and the outer archipelago
  • Glaskogen's lakes in Värmland
  • The islands of Lake Vänern

My pick

Archipelago paddle weekend

Sweden · 3 days · €560 per person

“Two nights camping on islands just an hour from Stockholm. It is the easiest way to see why Swedes love the archipelago so much.”
