Five days of turquoise lakes, waterfalls and alpine meadows below the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau.

  • A swim in the Oeschinensee, if you are brave enough
  • The north face of the Eiger from the Eiger Trail
  • Seventy-two waterfalls in the Lauterbrunnen valley
  • Swiss trains and cable cars that make long days short
  • Comfortable family hotels with views from every window

About the trip

The Bernese Oberland is Switzerland at its most generous: glaciers above, flower meadows below and a lake of startling blue around almost every corner. This trip stays in two comfortable villages and uses the mountain railways to reach the best walking each day.

Walks last four to six hours on well-kept paths, with plenty of time for photographs, cheese and long lunches. It is a good first alpine trip, and a lovely one to bring a partner who prefers a hotel bed to a hut.

What's included

  • Four nights in three-star hotels

  • A Swiss travel pass for all trains and lifts
