Fjord kayak expedition
4.95(88)Nærøyfjord and Sognefjord, NorwayPaddlingSmall group

Five days paddling deep, quiet fjords below waterfalls and hanging glaciers, camping on beaches only reachable by boat.
- The Nærøyfjord, one of the narrowest fjords in the world
- Waterfalls falling straight into the sea beside your kayak
- Seals, porpoises and white-tailed eagles
- Wild camps on grassy points below the cliffs
- A ride on the Flåm railway at the end
About the trip
The fjords of western Norway are best seen at water level. From a kayak the walls feel twice as high, waterfalls drum on the rocks beside you, and goat farms appear on ledges that seem impossible to reach.
We paddle single or double sea kayaks for four to five hours a day. You should be able to paddle for a few hours already, or join our sea kayak course first. The water is calm in the inner fjords, but it is cold, so we keep close to shore and plan around the weather.
What's included
- Sea kayaks and all paddling kit
- Drysuits for colder days
- Tents and all camping kit
- All meals on the water
- Ingrid as your guide, with a second guide on the water
- The Flåm railway on the last day

Your guide
Ingrid Solberg
Lead guide, Lofoten and western Norway
Ingrid grew up on a fishing island north of the Arctic Circle and has walked every ridge in Lofoten at least twice. In winter she swaps boots for skis on the Hardangervidda plateau. She knows where the cloudberries grow and never shares it.
