Glacier lagoon kayak
4.91(77)Vatnajökull, south coast, IcelandPaddling

Four days paddling among icebergs on Iceland's south coast, from the Jökulsárlón lagoon to quiet glacier lakes most visitors never see.
- Paddle between blue icebergs on Jökulsárlón
- Seals on Diamond Beach
- Dry suits and all kayak kit included
- Small groups of stable sit-on-top and touring kayaks
About the trip
The lagoons below Vatnajökull are full of ice calved from the glacier, in every shade from white to deep blue. From a kayak you can get close, quietly, and hear the icebergs creak and crack.
We paddle a different lagoon each day, starting with sheltered Fjallsárlón before the big one at Jökulsárlón. Dry suits keep you warm, and Finn keeps a safe distance from bergs that might roll.
No paddling experience is needed: the water is calm and the first morning is a gentle lesson on the shore.
What's included
- Three nights in a farm guesthouse
- Breakfasts, packed lunches and dinners
- Kayaks, dry suits, boots and gloves
- Transport from Reykjavík
- Finn and a second kayak instructor
