4.89(58)Pallas-Yllästunturi National Park, FinlandWinter

Six days skiing hut to hut across the fells of Pallas-Yllästunturi, Finland's most beautiful national park, under pink polar light.
- Ski the classic Hetta to Pallas trail
- Nights in wilderness huts with saunas
- Pink polar light and the chance of auroras
- Backcountry skis and pulks included
About the trip
In March the sun returns to Lapland and the fells glow pink for hours at a time. It is the best month to ski across them, on snow that has settled into a firm, fast crust.
We follow the Hetta to Pallas trail, around 55 kilometres over three days, with our bags pulled behind us on light sledges called pulks. Nights are spent in wilderness huts with wood stoves and a sauna, and the forest is completely quiet.
You should be comfortable on cross-country skis on gentle slopes. Liisa runs a skills session on the first day for anyone who wants to brush up.
