Six days in Iceland's remote Westfjords, walking green clifftops full of puffins, deep fjords and red sand beaches far from the crowds.

  • Puffins on the Látrabjarg cliffs
  • The red sand beach of Rauðisandur
  • The waterfalls of Dynjandi
  • Geothermal pools in the evenings

About the trip

The Westfjords are Iceland's least visited corner, a claw of land reaching into the Atlantic with more fjords than roads. The walking is wild, green and wonderfully empty.

We walk clifftops and old farm paths between the fjords, from the bird cliffs of Látrabjarg, where puffins sit a metre away, to the golden-red beach at Rauðisandur. Evenings end in hot pools with views across the water.

Summer light means no hurry to get home: in June the sun barely sets.
